SpaceX’s Dragon Capsule To Dock With The ISS In December 2011

NASA and SpaceX have agreed to allow the Dragon capsule to dock with the International Space Station this fall, according to SpaceX’s Twitter feed. The Dragon capsule is currently scheduled to launch aboard a Falcon 9 rocket on November 30, and dock with the ISS 9 days later. Originally, the Dragon was scheduled to just rendezvous with the space station on this second flight for Dragon and then dock on a subsequent flight. The word from Houston is that NASA managers have settled on April 29th for Space Shuttle Endeavour‘s final launch. That’s timed so that the orbiter can easily chase down the International Space Station and deliver its billion-dollar cargo, the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer . These shuttle launches also coincide with periods when the ISS repeatedly passes over North America in the hours just after sunset.
